We know that exfoliating your face before shaving is key to men opening up those pores and getting a closer shave, thus reducing stubble rash/irritation. But what about exfoliating your body, should this be a part of your routine during the morning shower?
Like with your face, regular exfoliating can help your skin to look fresher and younger. It will help to scrub away dead skin cells and dirt so your body can replenish, giving the skin a healthier glow.
The two key areas men should focus on are the chest and back as these can produce more natural oils. These oils get caught in the body hair causing blemishes and need to be scrubbed away. It can be difficult to get to every part of your back, so men can purchase a loofa sponge (with a wooden handle). Add your exfoliating cleanser to the loofa and you can use it to scrub those hard to reach places. Feel free to go hard on this area as it can often be overlooked so needs a deep cleanse. When starting on the front of the body don’t scrub as hard, as your skin especially round the stomach can be sensitive.
How often should you exfoliate? Let your body guide you. A good starting point would be three times a week, although more than this can lead to skin drying and in that case be prepared to scale back.
Exfoliating cleansers for a man’s body are more abrasive than those for the face. So don’t be tempted to skip parts of your morning routine and cleanse your face and body in the shower to save time.
